Bowling Tips
Here are some bowling tips from our in-house coaches.
Playing Heavy
Take a smaller step forwards
Bowling arm less far back
Pace of bowling arm slower
Playing Short
Take a larger step forwards
Bowling arm further back
Pace of bowling arm faster
Playing Narrow
Ensure the whole body is committed down the line you are playing.
Look at the position of the shoulder (where the bowl should begin to curve in).
Ensure the whole body is turned towards the shoulder line (including the position of feet on the mat).
Playing Too Wide
Ensure the whole body is committed down the line to the shoulder
Step down the line of delivery
Ensure the arm is a smooth pendulum action down the side of your body.
Check the natural line of your bowls.
Bumping Your Bowl
If your bowl hits the ground the bowl is being released too high up.
Try to lower the bowling hand closer to the green and release the bowl so that it runs smoothly along the green.
